What is Sringeri Chips?
A person named Burburi Giddayya (Burburi: Kannada word for Chips), estimated to be in the late 1950's and early 1960's, introduced Banana Chips with some added spice and salt in his small parlour. In the 1990's, his recipe was adopted by small-scale manufacturers. The industry has grown so big in the recent time, that even the chips made at other cities brand itself as Sringeri Chips.
